At McMahon Architects our motto is “Profit from Good Design.” We find that this is a succinct expression of our company’s mission - to maximize the investment made by our clients in our architectural services.
As a boutique design firm, we approach each of our projects with an open mind as each of our clients has a unique design criteria and set of requirements. MA has a talented staff of designers with unique backgrounds ranging from hospitality, restaurant, residential and commercial design. Each team member offers a fresh perspective to the challenges and opportunities that every project presents.
The initial design phase includes thoughtful deliberation of multiple design solutions, graphic investigations into each concept and a considered and iterative ‘testing’ of each design concept. This results in rational, practical and often elegant solutions that our clients can be proud of for years to come. From this basis we develop details, suggest materials & finishes and coordinate our efforts with engineers and consultants as needed. Our goal is always to provide our clients with a thoughtful and innovative design that encourages a positive and healthy environment for everyone.
Corporate Interiors: McMahon Architects is a full-service architecture firm large enough to provide economies to corporate clients, but small enough to provide an experienced, dedicated design team for each project it undertakes. We like to develop lasting partnerships with our clients – and we have a growing list of satisfied repeat clients to show for it. We think this is due not only to the quality of our designs but also because of our commitment to continuous communication throughout the project.
Our interior design philosophy is based on first understanding the client’s resources, business goals and brand and translating that into lasting workplace design solutions that contribute to a company’s productivity, recruitment, employee satisfaction and sustainable facility goals. With more than 20 years experience, we are an active participant with practical real estate advice during site selection. We focus on smart and strategic programming and space planning, efficient layouts, creative use of lighting, materials, and color, and furniture that will serve our clients well for the life of the space.

Hospitality: The McMahon hospitality team’s mission is to deliver an unforgettable product and experience. We start each project by working collaboratively to understand our clients’ business challenges, treating their investments as if they were our own. We then conceptualize a project narrative, which we use to inform all the intricate details of the design. At McMahon Architects, we strongly believe that two heads are better than one. We listen and work closely with our clients throughout each project in planning and documentation in order to deliver an on-time, budget conscience and truly compelling look and feel. The result is increased brand recognition and profitability, a collaborative experience, and an outstanding product.
Residential: Each of our residential projects is custom designed to be a reflection of the people who live there. Our designs range from traditional to modern, paying close attention to the details which are revealed in the finished product. Our project experience includes new single family homes and the restoration, remodeling and adaptive reuse of older and historic buildings and properties. We work with many different architectural vocabularies to create comfortable environments which are perfectly fit to the individuals who use them. Over the past 30+ years of residential design solutions we have had the pleasure to collaborate with some of the most active, open-minded, and interesting clientele which is expressed in the final design.
Retail: McMahon Architects has successfully provided a full range of retail services in a variety of environments. We have supported retailers both locally and nationally in the areas of Concept Design, Construction Documents and multi-store ‘roll-outs’ across the United States. We are currently licensed to practice architecture in 23 states. McMahon Architects is proud to have a long standing relationship with Simon Properties and has provided design and construction solutions for both interior and exterior common area up grades for many of their New England regional locations.
Environment: Green design on multiple levels is ingrained in all of our projects – from energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems to the use of day lighting and sustainable, low-VOC materials. McMahon has experience in designing corporate interiors in accordance with the USGBC LEED-CI criteria. We have also worked on many office relocations as well as projects that require detailed coordination with new base building construction.
